I don’t always pay that much attention to the weather forecast as pretty much whatever it is doing I will be getting outdoors in some shape or another so when it all clicks together it is great. Yesterday was one of those days as had decided that I would be going for a kayak and it turned out to be the most amazing day on the water.
For ages I have wanted to cycle from Claonaig to Clachan and got my chance on Wednesday. Thoroughly enjoyed it as well.
On Sunday myself, Kat, Morag ( Kat’s Mum) and Maia went for a hill walk on Beinn Chabhair but as you might have guessed from the blog title we didn’t manage to get to the top. Due to various factors we got to about an hour away from the summit and had to turn round.
Couple of days in the past week I have gone down to Loch Ard and have gone for a swim. Brilliant that it has been warm enough to want to do that and actually need to do that. When it is really warm temperatures don’t like to take Maia anywhere that isn’t near water just so she has somewhere to cool down and plus it is fun being around water with her. That is what life is about isn’t it, having fun when you can. That seems to more important than ever at the moment.
Last Monday and Tuesday while down in Clachan I got the opportunity to go out for a paddle in the morning. Would have been criminal not to take advantage of the weather. Kayaking is something that I absolutely love but due to a few reasons haven’t been able to do much of it the past few years. Making a real effort to change that now so this was a good start.
For a while I have been looking for a solution for taking pictures while out walking, I have carried my DSLR for whole walks before but it good to have both hands free a lot of the time. I have stored it in my rucksack which is okay but one is fairly heavy and takes up room but also means rucksack on and off quite a lot and taking pictures interrupts the flow of the walk. Have used a compact camera a few times which I can then keep in my pocket but just not happy with the quality of the photos. Sometimes I use my phone but it is nice to be phone free for a walk. Anyway I think I have found my solution and that is my GoPro. Light enough to have out all the time plus waterproof, easy to take videos with and not interrupt the flow of the walk plus when it is on it’s GoPro stick can have it attached to my rucksack by the walking pole loops so that I can have both hands free for a lot of the time. Perfect!
Last week I was in Kintyre and had amazing weather. You wouldn’t really believe it was Scotland! I am now back in Glasgow with a lot of photos as tried to make the most of my time getting out and about. Was really an activities week from kayaking to biking to walking with a little bit of gardening and relaxing thrown in as well. The next few blogs are going to be about the week and what I got up to so this first one is a taster really.
